The March Against Corruption is an international campaign to raise awareness about the corrupting influence of money and special interests in governance and public policy making; to provide a forum for people, to organize and speak out against corruption; and to educate the public about the consequences of corruption.

Saint Paul, Minnesota Event Details:

November 2nd, 2013

LOCATION: Minnesota State Capitol Grounds

A BROAD VIEW OF THE DAY:

NOONTIME – Volunteers, organizations, and individuals are welcome to arrive to set up.
1:00pm – Our event begins with individuals engaging in outreach and discussion.
2:00pm – Speakers will begin to take the mic around this time.
3:00pm – We prepare to march and shut off the mic.
3:15pm – Together, we march against corruption.
4:45pm – We return from marching against corruption.

WHAT TO DO TO PREPARE:

  • Bring sunscreen, a jacket, possibly a hat and mittens.
  • Bring snacks! Food vendors not permitted.
  • Bring a blanket or chair.
  • Bring a banner or signs that say interesting things.

If you would like to be added to our growing list of speakers on corruption please contact us as soon as possible. If you come to the event prepared to speak and connect with an organizer we will try to add you to our list. Please note that speakers may be refused dependent upon notice and the time. Musicians and other entertainers are also welcomed.

 

MARCH AGAINST CORRUPTION ALLIES:

The march against corruption is a collaborative event brought to you through the grassroots efforts of individuals and the collective support brought to us by: St. Paul Area – Move to Amend, Idle No More – Minnesota, Green Party of MN, OccupyMN, Occupy Twin Ports, Occupy Black Friday, March Against Monsanto, People Over Politics, and The United Police State of America

Our global campaign also has the support of many other groups.

PARKING & TRANSIT INFO:

Parking is NOT REGULATED in the metered state capitol lots during the November 2nd event. If you are going to utilize public transit you can plan your trip using the Metro Transit website.

The capitol staff recommend that we park in the following lots: AA, F, I,J,K,Q, and in the Centennial Parking Ramp. Metered parking is not enforced within lots, but street parking will be enforced. If you park in the Centennial Ramp do not pay to enter. The Centennial Ramp is open without charge, but if you pay, you will not be refunded.

STATEMENT ON NONVIOLENCE:

Corruption does not present itself as one entity. So, as we unite in a showing of international solidarity, we will take direct action to fight corruption by employing diverse tactics to combat this diverse enemy. In order to do this we must prepare ourselves emotionally, mentally, and spiritually before we act. We must recognize that our opposition is to a system of violence and militarism, and not toward any individual person or entity. In order to continue to spread awareness about corruption and create positive change, we must ensure that our tactics are positive contributions to our cause…

What is the Occupy Movement?

The Occupy Movement is a leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants.
