The People's Plaza was not empty on Christmas Eve, as occupier Tom Kelley states via Facebook, "The Peoples Plaza is Occupied on Christmas Eve! Nowhere I'd rather be. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night."

How The Grinch Stole #OccupyChristmas:

Sometime between the hours of 10:00pm Friday, December 23, and 8:00pm, December 24, all of the signs hanging and posted on The People’s Plaza were taken — including, ironically, the sign proclaiming U.S. District Judge Richard Kyle’s ruling that our signs are protected by our First Amendment right to free speech.  The only signs that remain are those that were glued in place.  As the identity of the sign theif (or thieves) is presently unknown, we are forced to conclude that we’ve been Grinched– someone, somewhere, thought that by removing our signs that proclaim our frustration with political corruption, economic inequality, and corporate greed, we would be dismayed and give up.  Well, they couldn’t be more wrong. The Grinch can take away our signs, but we can put them back up.

This is where we need your support! If you have some time free this Christmas, won’t you, your friends, and family join us throughout the day by helping to redecorate the Plaza with beautiful new signs to replace those that were taken?  Nothing too fancy, just a sign here, a sign there… something to show the Grinch that our spirits will not be broken, and that we will not leave. Why not write proclaim your wish to the world this holiday season?  Even if it’s cold and we can’t occupy to the extent that we’ve been able to in friendlier weather, we will keep The People’s Plaza, and we will make sure that our ideas remain visible.

Date: December 25th, 2011
Time: All Day
Your Mission: Reclaim The People’s Plaza by hanging signs.
Where: The People’s Plaza, Minneapolis, MN.

What You’ll Need To Do:
From the warmth of your home and soul, create signs of your own… consider covering them with something that will keep them safe and dry during the course of the next few weeks. Then, bring your beautiful signs, some tape and string, and your good spirits to The People’s Plaza… affix your sign securely to a pole, and announce that you have defeated the Grinch and have taken part in #OpOccupyMNXmas to the world!

Visit with others that are on the plaza, or stand in support of the movement by making our presence known.

Additional Options:
Schedule a shift in The People’s Plaza to help us keep this space!

I can’t join you since I am too far. Although I have no one or anything to keep me here. As I spend this Christmas alone. I so wish I could join you in our fight, for I wouldn’t wish to be anywhere else as important and beautiful.
For nothing is more beautiful than wishing and dreaming of peace on earth to everyone
